On the Stubai 7 summits part 2 we will undertake: Wilder Freiger, Zuckerhutl, and Habicht. Each day will include a full day of walking with sections of scrambling and some days will include glacier crossings as well as experiencing a few nights in mountain refuges. The glacier crossings will include the use of crampons and ice axe with the instruction of a fully qualified IFMGA guide. Throughout the week you can enjoy Austrian mountain culture at its best in the sleepy Stubai valley. As well as enjoying the mountains you can sample Austrian beer, taste local cuisine and immerse yourself in the Alpine environment, completing your Stubai seven summits by the end of the trip.

The Stubai 7 summits part 2 includes the ascent of three mountains and one rest day. The days listed below provide a rough itinerary to give you an idea of what the week looks like however due to the ever changing weather in the mountains the itinerary may be ran in a different order.
Wilder Freiger (3418 m), the formidable one, posing in front of you in all its glory. This formidable mountain rises up from the main alpine ridge lying on the Austrian and Italian border. This pyramidal peak is a favourite for alpine adventures. We will take two days to summit Wilder Freiger, with an overnight stay in a mountain refuge, summiting on one of the two days depending on whether conditions. This peak will include hiking, scrambling and glacier crossings, an amazing adventure in itself.
A day to enjoy the local culture and rest your legs for tomorrow’s adventures.
Zuckerhutl (3507 m), the demure one. The highest mountain in the Stubai Alps. It reigns over the region only demure by its appearance of a sugar loaf from one side despite its rough rockiness on the other side. We begin the day by taking a lift up on the Stubai glacier, then with a mixture of hiking and glacier crossing we make our way to the summit of the highest mountain in the Stubai range. Descending to the valley back to our hotel for the night.
Habicht (3277 m) known as the distinctive one. Due to its distinctive nature Habicht was believed to be the biggest mountain in its range for a long time, proving to be powerful without being the biggest. We will summit this mountain over two days with an overnight stay in a mountain refuge, summiting on one of the two days depending on whether conditions.
As a record of your achievements you collect a stamp from the summit of each mountain. On the completion of part 2 you will receive a 7 summits trophy and can keep your card as a souvenir.
This is a fun but challenging week, you should be of a reasonable fitness and have experience on grade 1 Scrambling terrain in the UK and have a good head for heights (gained from part 1). Along with this you should have an understanding of basic winter skills for the glacier crossings. Due to the nature of the ground on this trip, we offer a free winter skills training day in Scotland to give you the relevant skills needed to tackle such a challenge. This will be a good introduction for the skills required as glacier crossings involve walking across glaciated ice in crampons and ice axe with the expertise of a fully qualified IFMGA guide.
Although we may use additional equipment to protect ourselves during the more “tasty” scrambling sections and glacier crossings, this is not a climbing trip, and no skills related to this are a requirement.
