Snowshoeing

What is Snowshoeing?

A snowshoe is footwear for walking over deep snow. This allows people to access areas in deep powder with ease. Snowshoes work by distributing the weight of a person over a larger area so that one’s foot does not completely sink into the snow; a technique known as “flotation”.  When undertaken as a journey, snowshoeing can be enjoyed as a form of hiking.

What we do.

Here at Mountain Yak, we are snowshoe experts. We only use qualified IML’s (International Mountain Leaders) to lead and teach snowshoeing trips. This is the only recognised qualification for Snowshoeing and a legal requirement in most of Europe.

If your looking to experience this fantastic winter sport, then we have the trip for you. From one day taster sessions to multi day expeditions. Take a look below to get inspired. To find out more about our trips or to ask about a tailor made package please contact one of our snowshoe experts.
