During set dates this year, we are offering Snowshoe night walks, a snowshoeing experience with a difference. These are to suit all abilities and fitness levels. Based in Morzine (French Alps), we will explore stunning locations with fantastic views of the Mont Blanc Massif and Haute Giffre and venturing into the forests at night. Explore never before seen nightlife in the safety of a led group. The extensive forests command the valleys in the French Alps, upon darkness an extensive aray of wildlife comes out to play. Joining us on our nighttime snowshoe walks enables you to experience this first hand as you gaze up to the star filled skies.

Exploring this amazing area, we will teach you the skills needed to access the winter environment on snow shoes. Learning as we go about wildlife, history and taking in amazing vistas of high mountains and glaciers as the sun sets and into the darkness of the night.

We will begin the walk at 3pm in the afternoon to help you get comfy on your snowshoes and take in the views as the sun sets. Included in your walk is a hot drink to warm up and a snack for extra energy. We will continue into nightfall and see the forests in their moonlit splendour. Finishing the walk at 7pm so you can head off and relax for the evening.

What is Snow Shoeing?

A snowshoe is footwear for walking over deep snow. This allows people to access areas in deep powder with ease. Snowshoes work by distributing the weight of a person over a larger area so that one’s foot does not completely sink into the snow; a technique known as “flotation”.  When undertaken as a journey, snowshoeing can be enjoyed as a form of hiking.
